Summary

Rainbow Rowell's #1 New York Times bestseller Carry On, now available in this special bookshelf edition with a brand new case stamp and designed endpapers!

Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen。

That's what his roommate, Baz, says。 And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right。

Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire。 His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face。 Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here--it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up。

Carry On is a ghost story, a love story and a mystery。 It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story - but far, far more monsters。

Definitely one to reread。 The pace in the beginning was a bit off putting as we were dropped into the middle of an already developed world, but it proved worth while the farther into the book you got。 A very feel good read。

My third time reading this book, so I can read the whole thing at one time now that the trilogy is complete。 This book remains delightful in its own right and also a pretty great critique/take on Harry Potter。 Still holds up after three reads。

More like 4。5, but I’ll round up。 A delightful tale of Simon and Baz and the people who love them。 The inevitable romance happens quickly and kinda abruptly, at least on one side, but then again it’s been so long since I’ve known romance that’s maybe how it happens these days 😉

I really liked this book。 The whole magic set up wasn't that appealing but I definitely loved the rest of it。 And I liked the mystery set up and It definitely had me guessing a lot。 Although the beginning of the book kept on made me thinking I missed something like there was another book before this one and it definitely dragged a lot until part two。 But still a good book I really liked this book。 The whole magic set up wasn't that appealing but I definitely loved the rest of it。 And I liked the mystery set up and It definitely had me guessing a lot。 Although the beginning of the book kept on made me thinking I missed something like there was another book before this one and it definitely dragged a lot until part two。 But still a good book 。。。more

3。5 ish starsthere are a lot of emotions tied to this book。 the end taste in my mouth is great。 i feel connected to baz and simon and their relationship。 i also liked penny and agatha and ebb and lucy and the parents。 my journey with this book was kinda rough。 i started it hopeful, but was kinda let down by how slowly the book moved。 i also felt like it was kinda a cheap version of harry potter。 like the spells just kinda made me cringe。 i also was kinda confused by the world and almost felt lik 3。5 ish starsthere are a lot of emotions tied to this book。 the end taste in my mouth is great。 i feel connected to baz and simon and their relationship。 i also liked penny and agatha and ebb and lucy and the parents。 my journey with this book was kinda rough。 i started it hopeful, but was kinda let down by how slowly the book moved。 i also felt like it was kinda a cheap version of harry potter。 like the spells just kinda made me cringe。 i also was kinda confused by the world and almost felt like i was reading the second book in a series, instead of the first。 there were a few days that passed where i didn’t read at all。 however once i got past the beginning half of the book i started to really get into it。 i read probably like the last 200 pages in the past 3 days。 so it was kinda a weird experience。 but yea i liked it 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Desde el principio me atrapo, ademas de que tenia altas expectativas cuando recien lo compre。Es un libro interesante, audaz y en especial las partes donde Baz participa activamente, en donde se expresan sus pensamientos y dilemas ante los sentimientos algo confusos y constantes desde que conocio a Simon, su vida como un vampiro, la convivencia con su familia (algo desinteresada)。 Tambien las partes de Simon algunas eran super poeticas, que de hecho, desde la primera pagina marque con un post-it。 Desde el principio me atrapo, ademas de que tenia altas expectativas cuando recien lo compre。Es un libro interesante, audaz y en especial las partes donde Baz participa activamente, en donde se expresan sus pensamientos y dilemas ante los sentimientos algo confusos y constantes desde que conocio a Simon, su vida como un vampiro, la convivencia con su familia (algo desinteresada)。 Tambien las partes de Simon algunas eran super poeticas, que de hecho, desde la primera pagina marque con un post-it。 El mundo magico que creo Rainbow Rowell sin duda alguna te atrapara y volvera adicto。 PD: En algunas ocasiones Simon puede volverse todo un idiota, pero aun asi sigue siendo tierno jaja, asi que no te desesperes tanto cuando lo sea。 。。。more

I absolutely loved the characters in this。 Especially Baz。 Baz was awesome。I don't normally like split points of view in fantasy books, but this was an exception because it worked so, so well。 Each character had a really unique voice so it was easy to tell whose perspective we were in and Baz's inner monologue was hilarious, especially when you compare it to Simon's。 It made the book really entertaining and left me equal parts frustrated and overloaded by cuteness when Simon went on about how Ba I absolutely loved the characters in this。 Especially Baz。 Baz was awesome。I don't normally like split points of view in fantasy books, but this was an exception because it worked so, so well。 Each character had a really unique voice so it was easy to tell whose perspective we were in and Baz's inner monologue was hilarious, especially when you compare it to Simon's。 It made the book really entertaining and left me equal parts frustrated and overloaded by cuteness when Simon went on about how Baz was probably plotting his death and Baz was like。。。 wanna kiss him。 The build up to their relationship felt natural and the whole thing developed really nicely, with more than enough adorable moments for me to become certifiably *obsessed*。The storyline was also impressive。 I imagine there would have been some really good plot twists if I hadn't spoilt them for myself, and it had some great moments。 The main focus was definitely Baz and Simon's relationship, but to be honest that's exactly what I was looking for when I picked up this book so I'm counting it as a good thing。 。。。more

Rating ⭐ : 5/5Carry on takes the 'chosen one' trope and twists it beautifully。 As someone who grew up reading harry potter, this book sucked me in immediately and held it's own。 I can see critically how people may dislike it and how it could read as a harry potter fanfiction to some, but I feel like Rainbow Rowell did a great job building this world and the characters within。 The spells were funny and charming and I absolutely loved Simon and Baz。 The dynamic between them was beautiful to watch Rating ⭐ : 5/5Carry on takes the 'chosen one' trope and twists it beautifully。 As someone who grew up reading harry potter, this book sucked me in immediately and held it's own。 I can see critically how people may dislike it and how it could read as a harry potter fanfiction to some, but I feel like Rainbow Rowell did a great job building this world and the characters within。 The spells were funny and charming and I absolutely loved Simon and Baz。 The dynamic between them was beautiful to watch and is something that lingers with you long after you finish the book。 Simon's best friend Penny was one of my favourite characters, and as a brown girl, seeing representation in her made me so happy。 This is not a book you take too seriously or something to put up against Harry potter。 It is definitely a comfort read for me, the type of book you love more with time and something you immediately want to talk about when you're done。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Rating: 7/10To be 100% honest, I wasn’t sure if I was going to finish this book。 I was so confused when I first started it then it started to seem like a Harry Potter fanfic just with extra creatures and a better love story, but I did finally finish it! It wasn’t bad once I finally figured out/understood what was happening。 There’s a lot of questions still unanswered so I’ll have to finish the series eventually。

3rd time through。 I love SnowBaz

Fun listen on Audible! There are definite parallels with the Harry Potter series, but I’ve missed that world so I’m there for it。 I have downloaded the second book and plan to start it soon。 I need to know if Simon ever learns who his parents are!

i was apprehensive of this book。 "it's kind of like harry potter," i thought。 "how great can it be?" the answer, for all the apprehensive readers out there, is very extremely。 you will laugh。 you will cry。 you will remember the quotes for the rest of your life, or at least for a week after you finish the book。 i was apprehensive of this book。 "it's kind of like harry potter," i thought。 "how great can it be?" the answer, for all the apprehensive readers out there, is very extremely。 you will laugh。 you will cry。 you will remember the quotes for the rest of your life, or at least for a week after you finish the book。 。。。more

Loved it and couldn't put it down。 This is the book for fans of Rowell who think Harry Potter was just a bit twee and can enjoy a writer who can handle relationships。 Oh my goodness, the main love story was exquisite! Will recommend to all ages at our high school, but I'll have to get another copy as this one is worn out! I know it's cheesy and full of cliches, but I love it。 The Chosen One, the forbidden love, vampires, agh! It's amazing。 It's been a beloved read for many years。 I also liked how real the characters felt to me。 They were likable but also hateable。 I found many of their actions endearing, but damn do they frustrate me。 That is to say, they are flawed people。 Are some of the things unrealistic? Absolutely。 But it's a young adult fantasy book! I'm okay with a bit of goofiness。 I know it's cheesy and full of cliches, but I love it。 The Chosen One, the forbidden love, vampires, agh! I got this book from the library because we don't support Rainbow Rowell in this household, but for a long time I considered getting this secondhand, solely because I heard so many good things about it。 Now I'm very glad I didn't, because this book disappointed me。 I loved Baz, for sure。 He's one of my new comfort characters。 The characters overall were actually a strong point。 They were all pretty loveable。 I also loved Baz and Simon's relationship。 However, the entire time, I was just so confu I got this book from the library because we don't support Rainbow Rowell in this household, but for a long time I considered getting this secondhand, solely because I heard so many good things about it。 Now I'm very glad I didn't, because this book disappointed me。 I loved Baz, for sure。 He's one of my new comfort characters。 The characters overall were actually a strong point。 They were all pretty loveable。 I also loved Baz and Simon's relationship。 However, the entire time, I was just so confused。 There wasn't nearly enough world building。 I would find myself only realizing a certain aspect of the world 10 chapters after it was introduced。 It's hard to be into a book when you're confused。 Also, the fact that it was so blatantly similar to Harry Potter threw me off。 I get that magic schools aren't coined by J。K。, but I can make way too many parallels between the two。 I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to read the sequel, but maybe I will, because I do really love these characters。 。。。more

This book is definitely not good, but it's compelling, like a bad but fun fanfiction (which coincidentally, is essentially what it is, just with more steps)。 This book is definitely not good, but it's compelling, like a bad but fun fanfiction (which coincidentally, is essentially what it is, just with more steps)。 。。。more
